What's new? Nothing.
The injury bug has hit Louisville basketball again...this time finding sophomore forward Chane Behanan. Behanan, whose been prohibited from speaking with the media until the win agaisnt Kentucky. Well, he should have plenty of time to fill tape recorders as he'll be sidelined for 7-10 games. That could mean losing Behanan for 3 or 4 games due to a "moderate" high ankle sprain he suffered in practice earlier this week.
Not only for the Cards, but it's terrible timing for the player. Since being called out by Pitino, Behanan has responded by averaging over 16 points per game over the last contests. But aside from scoring, Pitino said his defense will be most missed.
"We know without Chane we're going to have to make certain adjustments. He has become one of our better defense vie players, which was a nice surprise for us. We'll be without him proably for a week to ten days," said Pitino.
And the numbers prove Pitino correct. Behanan was remarkably active during the Kentucky and Providence contests amassing 7 steals and 2 blocks.
For the Cards, what does this mean? It means 2 things.
Plus, let's not forget that Louisville is just now starting to enter the meat of their Big East schedule.
Wed 1/9 @ Seton Hall
Sat 1/12 v. USF
Mon 1/14 @Uconn
Sat 1/19 v. Cuse
That Syracuse game is 11 days away from today. No doubt Behanan will be needed to beat the Orange.
Will be Behanan be ready?
Will he be in shape when he does return?
What if Harrell gets injured, then what?
All valid questions we'll have answered in the coming weeks.
